With every passing day, fans are more attracted to the shortest format of the game in cricket, the T20Is, given that the number of games being played around the world keeps increasing every year. The recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022 reached peak attendance when India and Pakistan faced off against each other in their campaign opener at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium.

Sandeep Lamichhane, the former Nepal skipper, won 13 matches out of the 18 that he played as skipper in the shortest format of the game. With a win percentage of 72.22, the Nepalese spinner proved his worth as captain, silencing all his critics who doubted the board’s decision.

However, Lamichhane’s run as the captain was cut short by rape charges as the spinner was accused of allegedly raping a minor. On the back of the same, the Nepalese board sacked him as the captain of the national team and eventually suspended him.

3) Babar Azam (Pakistan) - 14

Babar Azam is fast becoming the best batter that the nation has ever witnessed as he is proving his worth as an all-format batter, eventually becoming an all-format captain of the Pakistan team. Eventually, the Pakistani star has won 14 matches as the captain of the team out of the 26 matches played so far with a win percentage of 53.84.

However, fans claim that his captaincy has impacted his performances as the batter notably struggled to bat with a better strike rate right throughout the year, eventually facing criticism on social media platforms. To add more, the right-handed batter has a strike rate of 124.14 in 2022, which is far lesser than most of the other openers.

2) AR Patwa (Tanzania) - 16

AR Patwa, the Tanzanian skipper, is the best captain with a win percentage of 94.11, as the star cricketer managed to win 16 matches out of the 19 that he has captained so far, out of which 2 produced no result and one was a defeat. However, his impressive record is a perfect example of potential talent in associate nations, although he is yet to play against nations like England and Australia.

Patwa boasts an impressive batting record in 2022 in T20Is as well, as the batter has managed to gather 474 runs with 2 fifties to his name at an average of 39.50. With the highest score being 79, Patwa gathered these runs at an impressive strike rate of 139.41

1) Rohit Sharma (India) - 21

Rohit Sharma, the right-handed batter, stands first in the list with the most wins as captain in the shortest format of the game in 2022 and fans would not be surprised to see his name on the list, given that the player has already proved his captaincy skills in the Indian T20 League.

Concerning his individual records as captain, Sharma managed to win 21 matches out of the 29 that he has captained so far and with no more T20Is remaining this year, the Indian batter might as well finish at the top and would look to carry on with the momentum in the approaching year as well.
