On Wednesday, when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, former Indian captain MS Dhoni captained the side for the 200th time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is one of the most reliable captains in IPL history. Mumbai Indians (MI), who have won five IPL trophies, are closely followed by MS Dhoni's CSK, who have won four IPL titles (2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 editions).

MS Dhoni's final season as a player may be in IPL 2023. He has repeatedly stated that he wants to play his last IPL game in Chennai but hasn't had the opportunity in the previous four years owing to COVID-19. When CSK played LSG earlier in the competition, He finally succeeded in walking onto the pitch in front of his home crowd because the IPL was returning to his home and away format. Here are five records that Dhoni can break or have broken in IPL 2023 as he strives to end the tournament positively.

MS Dhoni, the captain and standout hitter for Chennai Super Kings, became the seventh player in IPL history to accumulate 5000 or more runs. On April 3, he reached the milestone while playing for CSK against Lucknow Super Giants in the league's second game at the Chepauk Stadium. He joined AB de Villiers, David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli.

3. 200 matches as CSK captain

Dhoni, who has played in more IPL games than any other player, became the first player to captain a team for 200 games. His 200th game as the skipper of the Men in Yellow was against Rajasthan Royals in CSK's fourth IPL 2023 encounter on Wednesday at the Chepauk. Unfortunately, MS Dhoni could not inspire a win as CSK lost narrowly by the margin of four runs.

4. 250 sixes by an Indian wicketkeeper

In the IPL games he has played thus far, Dhoni has struck 235 sixes. To get 250 sixes in the lucrative league, he still needs to hit 15 more sixes. He currently holds the No. 4 spot on the list of batters who have hit the most sixes. Ab de Villiers is the only other wicketkeeper in the list who's ahead of MS Dhoni at number two with 251 sixes.

5. Most capped IPL player
