Aryna Sabalenka has defended her title in the Australian Open 2024 in the women's singles category. The 2nd seeded player beat Zheng Qinwen at the Center Court in the Rod Laver Arena in straight sets to claim her 2nd title in Melbourne. Aryna was dominant against the Chinese in the final just like how she has been throughout the tournament till now.

Sabalenka overcame the Chinese by a margin of 6-3, 6-2. The Belarusian hardly broke a sweat in the match and did not face enough challenges in the big match. In the process, Sabalenka won her third Grand Slam title in the last five appearances. Aryna was so strong on serves and placed the ball well throughout the court. She was agile and gave no chance for Zheng to be in the game.

Aryna hit some lovely aces and was good on return. The star player ended up winning the match in just a little over an hour. It capped off a brilliant season for the Belarusian in the hard-court Grand Slam event. Aryna had won the Australian Open even in 2023. To do it twice in a row is a good achievement. Not many women's singles players have been able to do it in the recent past.

Aryna Sabalenka's message to Zheng Qinwen

Qinwen did well to reach the final of the tournament. She became only the second Chinese since Li Na to reach the final of an Australian Open. For her achievement, Zheng was praised by the Belarusian. Aryna claimed to know how Zheng was feeling after the loss. In the French Open final in 2023, Sabalenka lost despite giving good performances in the tournament till then.

Sabalenka claimed Qinwen to be an incredible player and added that she would win a lot of Grand Slam finals in the upcoming days. "I know this feeling, it's really tough to lose in the finals. But you're such an incredible player, such a young girl, and you're going to be in many more finals. You're going to get it," Sabalenka said to Zheng.
