Commonwealth Games 2022: Day Seven Results- Sudhir wins historic Gold in Para- powerlifting, M Sreeshankar misses one by a whisker

India got two medals on day seven of Commonwealth Games 2022 to take its medal tally to 20 with six Gold medals.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 is nearing its end with just three days left to go. Naturally, all contingents are scrambling to get as many medals as they can on the back of improved performance.

Day seven saw India get two medals and increase its tally to 20. Let’s look at the performance of the Indian contingent from Day seven of the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Para Powerlifting

With a lift of 212kg, Sudhir smashed the Commonwealth Games Record and won India gold. He earned 134.5 points to add one more to India’s gold tally.

Boxing

Four Indian boxers namely, Amit Panghal, Sagar Ahalwat, Jasmine Lamboria and Rohit Tokas moved into the semi-final of their categories and secure a medal for the country.

Notably, in boxing two bronze medals are awarded to both semi-finalists.

Athletics

Murali Sreeshankar won a historic silver in the long jump event. This is India’s second medal in Athletics after Tejaswin Shankar won bronze in the men’s high jump.

Sreeshankar missed the gold by a whisker as he covered 8.08m in the long jump final. Muhammed Anees finished fifth in the same final.

India’s star athlete, Hima Das won her 200m heat event with a time of 23:42. She now advanced to the semifinal.

Table Tennis

Manika Batra won her opening match in straight games. Men’s doubles pair of Harmeet Desai/Sanil Shetty and Sharath Kamal. G Sathiyan also moved to their next rounds with a win.

In mixed doubles Sathiyan/ Manika advance to the next round as well.

Badminton

Badminton stars Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth advanced into the Round of 16 in singles.

However mixed doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and B Sumeeth Reddy lost their opening match and crashed out.

Squash

Dipika Pallikar Karthhik/ Saurav Ghosal reached the quarterfinals with a win. Joshna Chinappa/ Harinder Sandhu however crashed out of the Round of 16 with a loss.

The pair of Anahat/ Sunayna also bowed out of the event with a loss in the Round of 16.
