Mayank Agarwal is leading a franchise for the first time in the Indian T20 league. He has been appointed as Punjab's new captain for the ongoing 2022 edition. His first game as skipper was a memorable one as Punjab beat Bangalore by five wickets. Several experts appreciated his captaincy skills.
However, the second game didn't go as planned for him as the 2014-finalists lost to Kolkata in a rather one-sided fashion. They were outplayed in all three departments of the game. The Shreyas Iyer-led side beat them by six wickets and 33 balls to spare. Amidst all the boundaries that were hit during KKR's innings, fans also witnessed a rare instance of Mayank Agarwal losing his cool.
While defending 138 in the second innings, the Punjab captain seemingly got angry at a fielder. It was during the first ball of the third over when Agarwal was apparently seen scolding Shahrukh Khan for not moving in the field properly. A fan took to Twitter to post a video of the same.
The Punjab opener is generally known for being calm and the fans, thus, were shocked to see him getting angry on the field. As far as the game was concerned, Andre Russell stole the show with the bat in the second innings. The game was evenly poised when he came to bat as Kolkata were at 51-4 in seven overs.

The West Indies all-rounder then went on to score an unbeaten 70 off just 30 balls. His knock included two fours and eight sixes. Thanks to that knock, Kolkata chased the target in just 14.3 overs. Later in the post match presentation, Agarwal also spoke about how the West Indies all-rounder took the game away from them.
"We didn't bat well enough. We showed some real fight with the ball initially and then Dre Russ came in and got going. Credit to him for taking the game away from us like that. I think it was a 170ish wicket. We started off well but could not capitalize, there were a few soft dismissals. But it is fine as it is the start of the tournament. They (bowlers) pulled it back nicely for us with 4 for 50 we were in the game, but Russell took the game away. There were a lot of positives to take away," said Mayank Agarwal after the completion of the match.
