Kolkata and Punjab played each other in the eighth game of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium. Kolkata won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their opening pacer Umesh Yadav made an immediate impact as he trapped Punjab skipper Mayank Agarwal (1) lbw at the end of the first over.

They recovered from the early loss as they amassed 62 runs at the end of the powerplay. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan (16) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (31) played some wonderful strokes and added quick runs.
