India has announced the T20I squad for the series against Australia. With the lead-up to the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian team has set its mission to prepare themselves by testing some of the potential players. Hence, India has picked a young squad with many players under the age of 30. The series will begin on the 23rd of November and will have five matches in total.

The first match of the lot will begin from Visakhapatnam. The second T20I will happen in Thiruvananthapuram on the 26th of November. The third and fourth T20Is are set to happen on the 28th and the 1st of December respectively in Guwahati and Raipur. The last match of the series will happen at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Australia had announced its squad for the series long back.

India's squad for the series is as follows - Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Vice-Captain), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma, Avesh Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, Ishan Kishan, and Axar Patel. Shreyas Iyer is set to join the Indian squad for the last two T20Is as the vice-captain of the side.

Yuzuvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Sanju Samson big misses

Over the years, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal were a big part of the Indian team in LOIs. But with deteriorating form and age not on their side, it looks like the Indian team has not opted to continue with the experienced campaigners. It raises the question about their future in the team. It looks as if India is looking to build a young team that can represent them in the shortest format.

Sanju Samson is another big name missing from the series. In the lead-up to the ODI World Cup 2023, Samson was one of the main contenders to be in the squad. But Samson could not even make it to the squad. The exclusion of Samson from the T20I squad puts his future in the Indian team in serious doubt.
