Former Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has failed to capitalize on the batting form he regained against Gujarat in the league stage. During the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 against Lucknow and Rajasthan respectively, Kohli returned with scores of 25 and seven runs respectively. His failure against Rajasthan in the Qualifier 2 cost his team another knockout game. The team's dream of winning the ever-elusive title was shattered once again.

Meanwhile, former Australia pacer Brett Lee has said that everyone wants the 33-year-old to score big runs. Lee added that the Bangalore-based franchise had a chance to qualify for the finals and they needed their former skipper to stand up in the must-win game. The 45-year-old further added that Kohli is a hard-working cricketer. The 2003 World Cup was of the opinion that the former India skipper can take a break from the game, which might help the batting maestro.

"Everyone wants Kohli to score runs. RCB had the chance to go through to the final, but they missed out. They needed guys, like Virat Kohli to stand up. Even though the whole captaincy thing is not on his sleeves anymore, as a senior player, I'm sure he wants more runs. I can promise you though If there's anyone that works very hard with his cricket it is Virat Kohli. He leaves no stone unturned and works extremely hard on his fitness. He is a terrific guy. I wish him well, but maybe just get away, and take his mind off cricket for a little bit. Maybe that might help him to then focus more on the game he loves. I wish him well," Lee told News9 in an interview organised by sportsbet.io.

In the meanwhile, the 221-ODI veteran has backed Gujarat to win the Indian T20 League 2022 title. The final will be played on May 29 between Rajasthan and Gujarat in Ahmedabad. He also said that he wishes the Jaipur-based team to win the title to pay their tributes to the late Shane Warne.
