The ongoing third Test between India and South Africa saw a controversy which led to several Indian players making many hostile remarks on the field. During the third day of the Test, Ravichandran Ashwin was confident that he trapped Dean Elgar right in front, but DRS said otherwise.

The replays showed that the ball would have gone over the stumps, leaving Indian fielders stunned. As they found it absurd, they resorted to nasty remarks at the broadcasters, as well as the DRS technology. However, former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal went on to take a dig at the Kohli-led side for showing frustration over the LBW decision of Elgar being reversed.

While speaking about the 2011 World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan, he recalled how he had managed to trap the former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, only for the replays to show that the ball was going to miss the stumps.

Thus, as the legendary batter went on to score 85, it helped India beat Pakistan by 29 runs to proceed to the final of the tournament.

“When the Sachin Tendulkar decision from the 2011 World Cup was overturned on review, I was told that the technology should be trusted & is accurate. Today those same people are saying the technology should not be trusted & is not accurate," said Saeed Ajmal as quoted by journalist Saj Sadiq

"When an obvious decision goes against you then you realise how difficult it is to accept. There is no way my delivery to Sachin Tendulkar from the 2011 World Cup was missing the stumps, just like the Ashwin delivery to Elgar today wasn't missing the stumps," he added.

It is to be noted that after the Elgar decision was overturned, several players including Indian captain Virat Kohli continued to pass derogatory statements on the broadcasters.

“Focus on your team as well and not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time," said Virat Kohli. Nevertheless, Elgar was dismissed for 30 on the last ball of the day. The Proteas were 101-2 at Stumps on day three, and require 111 more runs to win.
