Rating captains of all franchises in Indian T20 League 2022

The fifteenth edition of the Indian T20 league is all set to take place after three days. With the mega-event approaching, all teams have already started preparing for it. As a result, all ten teams have already announced their captains for the 2022 edition.

While some of the leaders have been leading for a really long time, a few others are making their captaincy debut in this edition. So which are the best captains of the upcoming season? Today, we shall be ranking captains of all franchises in the Indian T20 league 2022.

1) Rohit Sharma-Mumbai (9.5/10)

Rohit Sharma is arguably the best captain in the history of the league. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be an overstatement to call him one of the most successful captains in T20 cricket. He has won the most number of titles as a captain in three toughest 20 (five). He also has the highest win percentage as a captain in this league.

2) MS Dhoni- Chennai (9.5/10)

MS Dhoni has been one of the most influential captains in this league. Under his leadership, Chennai won the title four times, and have made it to the top four every time except the 2020 edition. He has a knack for bringing the best out of players.

3) Shreyas Iyer- Kolkata (9/10)

Shreyas Iyer's captaincy skills managed to impress all the pundits and experts. After taking over as Delhi's captain midway through the 2018 season, he instantly made a mark. Post that, he led the franchise to the playoffs in 2019, as well as the final in 2020. However, he is all set to lead Kolkata in the upcoming edition.

4) Kane Williamson- Hyderabad (9/10)

Kane Williamson is one of the greatest captains of this era for a reason. When it comes to the biggest T20 league in the world, the Kiwi led Hyderabad to the final in 2018, he then led them to the playoffs in 2019. However, the orange army finished last at the points table during the 2021 edition. Williamson wouldn't want a repeat of that this time around.

5) Faf du Plessis- Bangalore (8.5/10)

Although Faf du Plessis is yet to lead a franchise in this league, he is an experienced captain. The Proteas had led South Africa for a long period and has been sensational, to say the least. With his experience, Bangalore are going to certainly benefit from his captaincy tactics on the field.

6) Rishabh Pant- Delhi (8/10)

Rishabh Pant led Delhi in 2021 and was fairly decent. Under his leadership, the franchise finished at the top of the points table in the previous edition, but were knocked out during the second qualifier. For starters, Pant's tactics weren't bad. Besides, he will only get better with experience.

7) KL Rahul- Lucknow (7.5/10)

KL Rahul led Punjab for two editions. Although he couldn't lead them to the playoffs even once, he was decent. A few games saw his display some bold calls, which paid off. Moreover, captaincy got the best out of him as he started to get better as a batter.

8) Sanju Samson- Rajasthan (7.5/10)

Sanju Samson was Rajasthan's captain in the 2021 edition, but couldn't yield any noteworthy results. The 2008-champions finished seventh in the points table during the previous edition. However, Rajasthan's team management speaks very highly of Samson's leadership qualities. Thus, it won't be surprising if he has a good season for the franchise this time around.

9) Mayank Agarwal- Punjab (6/10)

Mayank Agarwal has captained Punjab in just one game, and that was in the 2021 edition when Rahul had to miss the match. While it is very hard to judge a captain in just one game, one can expect him to do well as a skipper in the upcoming season. He's a seasoned campaigner, and is seemingly cool and composed most of the time.

10) Hardik Pandya- Gujarat (5/10)

Hardik Pandya will be leading a franchise for the first time in the Indian T20 league. As no one has seen his style of leadership, it can work towards his advantage as teams wouldn't know what to expect. However, this is a gamble which can go either way.
