Former India captain Virat Kohli once again failed to score big and continued his poor form in Test cricket as he got dismissed after scoring only 12 runs on the first ball of the 2nd session of Day 2 of the first match of the four-match Test series in Nagpur on Friday, February 10. Australian spinner Todd Murphy is having a brilliant debut as he picked 4 wickets so far.

But the ball on which Kohli got out was probably the poorest ball Murphy has delivered till now. It was short, kept low, and finished well down the leg. Kohli thought he could help himself with a few runs with the glance. But the lack of bounce meant he couldn't control the shot and wicketkeeper Alex Carey did so well to stay low, got his hands to it, and then take it on the second attempt.

Kohli is out of colors in the oldest format since 2019 as he scored his last Test century in that year against Bangladesh. He was also there when India toured Bangladesh in the Tests and ODIs last year. But he was not able to score big in the Test series.

Meanwhile, talking about the match, Australia have taken control over India as the hosts have lost 5 wickets already. Suryakumar Yadav who was making his Test debut was dismissed on a brilliant delivery by Nathan Lyon. Suryakumar was on the front foot and attempting a massive cover drive but the ball really gripped the surface, turned, and sneaked into him as he got bowled.

Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, the visitors had a tough start as they lost their both openers cheaply under the first 3 overs of the match. They expected a better batting performance from the middle order but that didn’t happen as they were bundled out for only 177 runs in the first innings.

Meanwhile, the Indian team is nearing to 200 mark, courtesy of skipper Rohit Sharma brilliant 9th Test century. He started off aggressively, respected the good deliveries and punished every bad ball. He looked very satisfied after achieving the milestone, however, he will look to convert this knock to a big one.
