Amid the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, preparations have kicked off for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 auction. The prestigious auction will take place on December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. It will be the first time that a player's auction will take place outside India.

The IPL players' transfer window is currently active in anticipation of the upcoming players' auction, with teams potentially engaging in player transfers in the coming days. The IPL 2024 Transfer Window is scheduled to close on November 24. Recent reports indicate that teams have already communicated with the IPL Governing Council regarding the list of players they have released in preparation for the IPL Auction 2024.

Meanwhile, media reports suggest that some teams have figured out their retention list. The Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans have also finalised their final retention list. According to the latest news reports, the Titans have decided to release pacer Yash Dayal, former Sri Lanka skipper Dhasun Shanaka, Odean Smith, Pradeep Sangwan, and Urvil Patel. It's worth noting that Yash Dayal is the same player who was smashed for five sixes by Rinku in the last edition of the tournament.

In a surprising development for Kolkata Knight Riders enthusiasts, the dynamic Jamaican, Andre Russell, has been let go by the two-time champions. KKR has also released Lockie Furguson and Shakib Al-Hasan. The Lucknow Super Giants opted to part ways with pacers Avesh Khan, Jaidev Unadkat, and Daniel Sams, among others.

Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, released Jofra Archer, who was acquired at the IPL 2022 Auction despite being unavailable for the season. Sunrisers Hyderabad has bolstered its budget by offloading costly players like Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Adil Rashid, and Akeal Hossein.
