'Rinku Jiya, woh kamaal ka paari tha' - Fans react as Rinku Singh smashes three sixes in super over in UP T20 League

Rinku Singh has made the headlines yet again. The left-hander smashed three sixes in a must-win situation in the first edition of the UP T20 League. The game took place at Green Park in Kanpur. Green Park has also hosted many iconic Test matches and also a few Indian Premier League (IPL) games as well. His team won the game in a dramatic fashion.

Rinku made his debut for Meerut in the league. He hit 17 runs in the Super Over against Kashi Rudras. Rinku did a Deja Vu of what he did in the 2023 edition of the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he hit 31 runs of Yash Dayal in an IPL game. Coming back to the game, the Rudras posted 16-1 and in reply, Rinku had to contend with Shiva Singh who bowled a dot ball at the start of the over.

Rinku Singh then smoked three sixes in the over and the left-arm spinner did not know what hit him. Rinku helped his team cross the line and both teams ended up with the same score which was 181. In his debut series against Ireland, he was as calm and composed as ever. The 25-year-old hit a quickfire 38 off 21 balls with two fours and three sixes. This helped India to get to a total of 185-5 in 20 overs.

India eventually won the game by 33 runs and also took the series 2-0 as the third game was washed out. In IPL 2023, Rinku scored 474 runs at an average of 59.25 and at a strike rate of 149.52. He hit four fifties in the season and gave a good account of himself in the middle-order for KKR.

Now Rinku will want to give the best impression possible come the Asian games. The squad is a young side that will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and will be coached by VVS Laxman. The games will take place in China. India will be sending a team for the Asian Games after a long hiatus.
