Hyderabad pulled off a thrilling victory in their last match against Mumbai. Despite a late scare by the Mumbai batter, Tim David, Hyderabad held their nerves and prevailed in the match. The win kept the Men in Orange’s hopes of playing in the playoffs alive but they will have to win their last league match against Punjab and wait for the result of other matches to go in their favor for that to be a reality.

But in the latest news, Hyderabad will be missing the services of their star batter and skipper Kane Williamson for the remaining of the tournament. Williamson is traveling back to New Zealand for the birth of his child. The development was confirmed by the Hyderabad franchise on their official social media handles. The Tweet on the part of the franchise confirming the development read – “Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand, to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here’s everyone at the #Riser camp wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness!”

Speaking of Williamson’s performance in the tournament, he has been having a terrible time with the bat in hand. He has played in 13 matches and has scored 216 runs in them at an average of 19.64 and a strike rate of 93.51. He has looked completely out of touch and lacking in confidence throughout the tournament.

His off-form with the bat has reflected in his captaincy as well. From opening the innings despite not being able to score significantly to using spinners against big hitters in the death overs, he has made some blunders on the field as a captain. Williamson’s dismal time with the bat and bizarre captaincy has cost Hyderabad some important matches in the tournament. Having a terrible time in the tournament, his leaving the camp might bring relief to Williamson and give him some time to reflect on his game.
