Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer for the Indian team in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. Earlier, the 33-year-old was enduring a poor run of form with the bat for the last couple of years. Although, he is still waiting for his 71st international century since the last one he scored against Bangladesh three years back in 2019.

Notably, Virat has scored 35 and 59 runs respectively in the two group matches of India in the Asia Cup 2022 against Pakistan and Hong Kong.

But apart from that, recently, former Pakistani skipper and batter Rashid Latif has come up with a very different statement about Virat Kohli. He has compared him with the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav. These remarks from Rashid Latif have come amidst the 15th edition of the Asia Cup.

“Virat can never become Suryakumar Yadav. He can never become Rohit Sharma. His playing style for Bangalore is also the same and that's why they could never become champions,” said Latif during a YouTube show of Pakistan, 'Game On Hai’.

Later on, the former Pakistani veteran also discussed former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, while talking about Kohli.

“Take the example of MS Dhoni. Even if he is playing dot balls, he can make up for that with a few sixes but Kohli can't. So there shouldn't be any debate on whether Kohli played fast or slow against Hong Kong. That is his natural game) He mostly goes for the big shots after he has crossed 30-35 from whatever I've followed IPL or Indian cricket. Rohit Sharma is one of them who looks to take advantage of the powerplay and then tries to take the game till the end,” he added later.

Furthermore, Latif also brought the Australian star batter Steve Smith, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, former English skipper Joe Root, and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam into the discussion.

“We can compare him to Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Babar Azam. But none of them have been great match-winners in T20Is. In ODIs, there's nobody even close to Virat Kohli. Or for that matter even Smith, Williamson, Babar Azam. There are three phases in ODI cricket. 1-10 overs are the first, then 11-40 and the final. It's a different game. You need the most amount of skill in ODI cricket. Virat Kohli plays like that,” he concluded.
