England’s hero of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 semi-final win against India, Alex Hales has been on the receiving end of criticism for his old social media post in which he is visible wearing blackface. This photo went public a year back in 2021. Thereafter, the senior England batter admitted that he had broken directive 3.3 of the England cricket Board which is associated with actions that can harm the interests of cricket.

Adjudicator Chris Tickle went on to claim that Alex Hales was a fan of rap music and renowned rapper Tupac Shakur. Although, nobody has taken offense to this photo at the time or till now since then.

Here's what the study of CDC examined

“Hales has already been examined, cautioned, and asked whether it is necessary to give the topic "additional airtime" by Nottinghamshire, his county,” reads the study of Cricket Discipline Committee.

The investigation by the CDC has also learned that Hales had questioned the necessity of repeated publishing of these old items even after the latter issued a public apology for the same.

Talking about cricket, the 33-year-old batter single-handedly destroyed the Indian bowling line-up in the second semi-final of the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022. Hales played an unbeaten knock of 86 runs and stitched a historic partnership of 170 runs without losing a single wicket with the skipper Jos Buttler.

He also won the ‘player of the match award for his match-defining knock in the favour of England.

Currently, the senior Middlesex wicketkeeper-batter is on a sabbatical as the Jos Buttler-led England team is in action in the three-match series against Australia in Australia. The veteran of 75 T20Is played three 40+ innings in the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup alongside two half-centuries to his name.

Notably, Hales made a comeback to international cricket for England after a long break since he failed a ‘drug test’ a few years back.
