In a major piece of news, star English batter Liam Livingstone is ruled out of the rest of the Hundred Men’s competition. It is because he sustained an ankle injury just before the end of the group stage of the tournament. Livingstone was playing for the Birmingham Phoenix in the tournament. But unfortunately, he will have to miss the remaining two matches of the group stage for his team.

The management has decided to replace Livingstone with Nottinghamshire’s batter Sol Budinger. He will be there with the team for the remaining part of the tournament. Phoenix will play against Manchester Originals and London Spirits in the remaining two group matches.

Livingstone has enjoyed a successful season in the Hundred competition with a score of 173 runs with an average of 34.60 in six matches he played for the team. The right-hander has registered a strike rate of 145.37 with the highest individual score of 119 runs. Meanwhile, the selection committee of England will hold a meeting. They will decide the squad of the team for the upcoming seven-match ODI series against Pakistan next month in September.

Left-hander batter Budinger has played nine T20 matches and scored 96 runs. Apart from that, he has played 17 List-A games and scored 523 runs with an average of 32.68 with a top score of 89.

Earlier, the ODI skipper of England, Jos Buttler had to withdraw from the competition due to a calf injury. He will also miss the entire seven-match ODI series against Pakistan next month in September. Senior all-rounder Moeen Ali will be there in the role of stand-in skipper for the English team.

Senior English opener Jason Roy is also ruled out of the Hundred competition as he sustained a back injury. There have been also some other setbacks for England as the pacers including the likes of Chris Jordan, Richard Gleeson, Tymal Mills, and Brydon Carse also sustained injuries and they are also not playing the Hundred competition.
