The 24-year-old didn’t have a great run in the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2023 where he took 17 wickets in 14 matches at an economy rate of 9.70. Meanwhile, Arshdeep expressed his excitement to play in the County championship and said that it will help him to improve his skills, especially on the overseas surface. He also revealed that India head coach Rahul Dravid told him that Kent is a great club in County history.

"I am excited to play red-ball cricket in England and continue to improve my skills in the first-class game. I look forward to performing in front of Kent’s Members and supporters; Rahul Dravid has already told me it is a Club with a great history," he said.

Interestingly, Arshdeep will be the 4th Indian player to play for Kent after former India allrounder Kanwar Shumshere Singh, current India head coach Dravid, and Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini. Kent also expressed their happiness to sign Arshdeep and shared the excitement through the announcement.

"We’re delighted to have a player of Arshdeep’s potential join us for five matches this Summer. He has demonstrated that he has world-class skills with the white ball, and I am very confident he will be able to put those skills to good use with the red ball in the County Championship."

Talking about Arshdeep’s international career so far, he has taken 41 wickets in the 26 matches he played in the shortest format at an economy rate of 8.39. He has also featured in 3 ODIs but couldn’t take any wicket, however, it is believed that the youngster will soon be playing all 3 formats for the Indian team.
