Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in front of their home crowd and here is how fans reacted to it.

The 29th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, April 21. The four-time champions registered their 4th win of the season convincingly as they defeated SRH by 7 wickets.

Talking about the match, CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and invited SRH to put runs on the scoreboard. CSK bowlers produced a breathtaking bowling display as they restricted the visitors to a score of just 134 runs. The 2016 champion started with Abhishek Sharma and Harry Brook and got a good start.

However, the addition of spin caused the innings to stall. The slowness of the pitch worked to Ravindra Jadeja's advantage. The ball gripped and spun as he made life difficult for the middle-order batsmen of the SRH, earning him three wickets.

Maheesh Theekshana gave him strong backing, and SRH's lower order found it difficult to pick out Pathirana's variations. CSK didn’t let the batters hit biggies with 10 overs of the spinners. Dhoni was also brilliant behind the wickets with a catch, a stumping, and a run-out as well.

A brilliant all-round performance by CSK

Chasing the target, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave a brilliant start to the team as usual and made the most out of the powerplay as they smashed 60 runs in it the first six overs, too without losing their wickets. 

However, in the 11th over of the 2nd innings, Gaikwad got run out in an unfortunate way as Conway played a beautiful straight drive, on which Umran got a hand in follow-through and that went directly to the non-striker's end wickets. Gaikwad just had no time to get back in after Umran got a bit of deflection, however, it was the only to get rid of him as the bowlers didn't have too much to trouble the CSK batters.

Conway continued his brilliance till the end of the match and helped the team to register their 4th win of the season. He scored 77 runs off 57 deliveries, which included 12 fours and 1 six.
