India’s explosive batter and the no.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav is going through a torrid run with the bat over the last two months. He has consistently flopped in all three formats of cricket and is in the same condition in IPL 2023 after a poor performance in Test and ODI series against Australia. The Mumbai Indians (MI) batter got out for a golden duck against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday (April 11) night in IPL in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
The middle-order batter got out on the very first ball. DC’s fast bowler Mukesh Kumar sent him to the pavilion. This was the fourth time in the last seven innings, that he gave his wicket on the very first ball.
This bad form of Suryakumar started from the Nagpur Test played in February this year. He was able to score only 8 runs against Australia in his debut Test. After this, he did not get a chance again in the Test series. He was a part of the ODI series against Australia but it was a forgettable series for him as he created an unwanted record of golden duck in all three matches.
MI registered their first victory
Now even in IPL, Suryakumar's bat is flopping and is going through the toughest phase of hiss IPL career. In the first match, he was able to score only 15 runs against RCB. In the second match, he was dismissed after scoring one run against Chennai Super Kings. Now in the third match, when he returned to the pavilion without opening his account, he was ridiculed on social media. Cricket fans made a lot of memes about him.
Talking about the match, DC were bundled out on the scored 172 runs. Skipper David Warner kept his good form and scored 51 runs but it came off 47 deliveries. However, allrounder Axar Patel proved to be the turning point for the hosts as he looked fluent from the word go and scored a blistering fifty.
Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got Mumbai Indians off to an excellent start, and although they lost some wickets in a cluster during the run chase, the efforts from their top three made sure to take them over the line. Tim David and Cameron Green were calm and composed and took their team to the first victory of the tournament.
