The stage was set at the Arun Jaitley stadium as Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) on 11 April 2023. It was the 16th match of this ongoing IPL as both teams were looking for their first-ever win this year in the tournament. David Warner and his men were looking for their first win in front of the home crowd.

Speaking of the match, MI won the toss and asked DC to bat first. DC gave a debut to Yash Dhull while Jofra Archer missed another match for MI. For DC, the skipper David Warner and Prithvi Shaw came out to open the innings. But, Shaw failed again cheaply as he scored 15 runs off 10 balls.

After that, DC failed to develop partnerships and lost five wickets for 98 runs in 12.3 overs. Then, Axar Patel came in and stitched up a partnership of 67 runs for the sixth wicket. Patel scored 54 runs off 25 balls, including four fours and five sixes. After that, Warner got out on 51 runs off 47 balls. Finally, they got bundled out for 172 runs in 19.4 overs. For MI, both Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff took three wickets each. Along with them, Riley Meredith took two wickets while Hrithik Shokeen took one wicket.

For MI, the skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan came out to open the innings. They put up a 71-run partnership for the first wicket. Ishan scored 31 runs off 26 balls while Rohit scored 65 runs off 45 balls, including six fours and four sixes. Apart from them, Tilak Varma scored 41 runs off 29 balls, including one four and four sixes. Then, Tim David and Cameron Green put up a fight to chase down the target. In the last over, MI needed five runs but David and Green held their nerves. They won the match on the last ball and thus, Mumbai registered their first win of this season. For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar took two wickets and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket.
