Mohammed Siraj was on fire against the Sri Lankan batting as he picked up 6-21 in his spell of seven overs. The batting card from Sri Lanka was not great as five batters were dismissed for ducks. It was a very comprehensive bowling performance from India. Hardik Pandya picked up three scalps and Jasprit Bumrah took one. In the run chase, the opening duo of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill finished it off in 6.1 overs.

"I would like to thank the fans who came in numbers, really sorry that we disappointed you. We as cricketers really love you. And congratulations to the Indian team for the brand of cricket they're playing," Shanaka said at the post-match presentation. Shanaka had an underwhelming time with the bat in Asia Cup 2023

"A positive takeaway is how Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis batted in the middle period in spinning conditions, as well as the way Charith Asalanka batted and he's handling that pressure well. In Indian conditions, these three will perform well and score heavily. Also, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana and the two other fast bowlers as well in Kasun Rajitha and Pramod Madushan, think they will do well in the coming World Cup.  the Sri Lankan skipper said.
