Supreme Courts orders to stop arbitration proceedings in Delhi High Court on a plea from MS Dhoni

“#Alert SC issues notice to former Indian cricket team captain #MahendraSinghDhoni and stays arbitration proceedings initiated by Delhi High Court against #Amrapali group on his plea,” reads the tweet from the Times of India.

Later on, the news has been confirmed by renowned Indian legal journalist Sumit Kumar. He has explained the details of the decision released from the end of the Supreme Court.

Speaking of this whole case, real estate developer ‘Amrapali Group’ was accused of fraud with the customers who went on to buy a home in the apartments of Amrapali. There were allegations on Amrapali that they have frauded the customers by charging them money in the form of advance payments and didn’t complete the same project.

The Supreme Court eventually accused the group of being guilty of ‘first-degree crime’ and instructed the authorities to initiate a probe against the management of the group. In the same orders, SC asked National Buildings Construction Corporation to complete Amrapali’s unfinished projects by taking them over.

When the news of this fraud spread into the media corridors, it also came up with some black spots on MS Dhoni. The audit report which was submitted before the apex court stated that “companies linked to the cricketer and his wife Sakshi Dhoni were among those used by Amrapali to illegally divert the funds.” Although India’s world cup winner skipper went on to deny all the allegations.
