After the end of the mega event, the athlete revealed something shocking. She claimed that her coach had asked her to intentionally concede a game. As a matter of fact, she said that she was pressurized by Soumyadeep Roy.

“The national coach (Soumyadeep Roy) had pressurized me during the qualification tournament in Doha in March 2021 to concede my match to his student to enable her to qualify for the Olympics. In short- to indulge in match to his student to enable her to qualify for Olympics – in short- to indulge in match-fixing,” said Manika Batra, as quoted by Sports Tiger. The 26-year-old even said that she has evidence of this incident.

In a shocking turn of events, the Delhi High Court announced its decision to suspend the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) for six months on Friday. An administrator has been appointed to handle this case further. Moreover, her coach Roy has been found guilty of match-fixing.

It is to be noted that she had earlier said that she was ready to present it to the competent authorities. Manika had also stated that her coach spoke to her for 20 minutes and asked her to concede the match.

“For asking me to concede the match, the national coach personally met me in my hotel room and talked to me for nearly 20 minutes,” she had added. She even claimed that she was falsely

charged by the TTFI for bringing disrepute to the country. After eventually filing a case, the Delhi HC decided to bring her to justice. It is yet to be seen all these controversies affect Manika as there are a lot of important games lined up for her.
