The team has Usman Khawaja and Dimuth Karunaratne as the opening pair. The two Southpaws have been good as batters in the longest format of the game. While there were many options to pick against Dimuth, Khawaja walked in as an opener. At number 3 and 4, they picked Kane Williamson and Joe Root, two of the batters from fab 4, who almost walked into the side.

At number 5 and 6, two talented youngsters were picked. As a batter, Harry Brook was picked at number 5, who was very good in the year 2023. Brook was the emereging player of the year and batted so well. At number 6, Lorcan Tucker was picked as the WK batter of the team. The Irish WK was the least anticipated pick among all and probably deserved to make it to the side given the shortage of sample size for keepers in 2023.

Variety in bolwing attack

The bowling attack has a good variety with different types of bolwers. At number 7, Ravindra Jadeja walks into the side as the All-rounder. The left-arm off-spinner is assisted by the fellow teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, who brings his right-arm off-spin bowling to the equation. The two are likely to operate with the old ball. The team is led by Pat Cummins who captained Australia to a WTC mace.

Cummins would be the hit-the-deck hard bowler as the first change and would accompany the other two spinners. With the new ball, the team has Kagiso Rabada and Stuart Broad. While Rabada is known for his seam bowling and has an outswinger, Broad has wobble seam and cutters that could trouble the batters. With the new ball, Broad has a good outswinger.
