The IPL 2024 auction has been nothing short of spectacular, featuring noteworthy transactions for prominent players. Australian Captain Pat Cummins has set a new record, securing a remarkable contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for an unprecedented Rs 20.50 crore, making him the first player in IPL history to command such a staggering sum from a base price of Rs 2 crore.

Harshal Patel fetched a significant sum of Rs 11.75 crore as he joined Punjab Kings (PBKS). South Africa's Gerald Coetzee landed a spot in Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 5 crore, surpassing his base price of Rs 2 crore. Rachin Ravindra from New Zealand found a spot in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 1.80 crore, exceeding his base price of Rs 50 lakh.

CSK also acquired the services of India all-rounder Shardul Thakur for Rs 3.20 crore, starting from a base price of Rs 2 crore. Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai joined Gujarat Titans at his base price of Rs 50 lakh.

Australian batsman Travis Head, a key player in Australia's World Cup 2023 victory, secured a significant contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 6.8 crore, well beyond his base price of Rs 2 crore. In the World Cup final, he played a crucial role by scoring 137 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga became a part of SRH for Rs 1.5 crore. Rovman Powell, a West Indies batter, experienced a substantial jump in his price, moving from Delhi Capitals to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.4 crore, a 164 per cent increase from his last auction price of Rs 2.8 crore. English batsman Harry Brook transitioned from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore, marking a 70 per cent decrease from his previous auction price of Rs 13.25 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad retained New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips and Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi. However, Australian batter Steve Smith and Manish Pandey failed to secure a bid, with Smith's base price set at Rs 2 crore and Pandey at Rs 50 lakh.
