However, the Indian batsman is currently making news for his poor ODI bat performance, which even led to him setting an unfavorable record. During India's third game against Australia in Chennai, the Mumbai batter became the first Indian batsman to record three straight golden ducks in ODIs.

Take a look at the five Indian players who got three consecutive ducks in ODI cricket :

Anil Kumble, a former Indian cricket captain and coach, tallied three straight ducks in 1996. Kumble scored the first pair of ducks in May 1996 against England and the third duck in September 1996 against Australia.

Anil Kumble might be hurt with such a record to his name considering he has a Test century to his name but he was lower end batter and one who can change the course of the game just by holding his ground and not giving away his wicket which is crucial sometimes for the team.

2) Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav of India is presently ranked first among batters in the ICC T20I Rankings. He has, however, had trouble having an effect in ODI cricket. In the ongoing ODI series involving India and Australia, Yadav had the chance to demonstrate his talent.

In the series, the right-handed batter was unable to get his first hit. In three games, he recorded three golden ducks. In the first couple of matches, Mitchell Starc bowled him out leg before wicket, and in the Chennai ODI, Ashton Agar shattered his stumps.

3) Sachin Tendulkar

As everyone is aware, Sachin Tendulkar needed 78 ODI games and over 5 years to record his first-ever ODI century. However, a fascinating statistic is that after scoring his very first, Sachin was dismissed on zero in his next 3 games. After achieving his initial ODI century, he, therefore, scored three consecutive ducks.

In the following three games, Sachin was ejected on ZERO after hitting 110 against Australia on September 9, 1994. (against Sri Lanka on 17th Sep and then against West Indies on 17th Oct and 20th Oct 1994).

4) Jasprit Bumrah

During December 2017 and March 2019, Jasprit Bumrah failed to score in three straight One-Day International innings against Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and Australia. But Bumrah has seriously improved his batting since then and has become a decent hitter of the ball for the team and has started to be a great tailender.

5) Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma had three straight ODI ducks from August 2010 and June 2011. In August 2010, Sharma recorded his maiden duck against Sri Lanka, while his two subsequent ducks came in a match versus West Indies in June of 2011.

Ishant Sharma’s story is similar to Jasprit Bumrah, he became a decent batter later on after a fair few innings and he knew how to hold his ground and looked to rotate the strike more often than not. This record won’t hurt him much since he has been a great servant for the national team.

6) Zaheer Khan

Zaheer Khan had three straight ODI ducks from November 2003 and March 2004. On November 18, 2003, Khan recorded his maiden duck against Australia, while his two subsequent ducks came in a match versus Pakistan in March of 2004.

Zaheer Khan’s story is similar to Jasprit Bumrah, he became a decent batter later on after a fair few innings and he knew how to hold his ground and looked to rotate strike more often than not. This record won’t hurt him much since he has been a great servant for the national team.
