Babar Azam was jeered by a group of fans during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Friday, February 23. The Peshawar Zalmi captain was sitting on the sidelines with support staff during his side's match against Multan Sultans. A video that has gone viral on social media shows Babar getting furious after being trolled by fans with the chants of 'Zimbabar'.

It is understood that the incident took place in the first half of the match. Babar, who won the toss and opted to bat first, was in the dugout in the ninth over after scoring a 26-ball 31. While he was enjoying the match, some Multan fans chanted 'Zimbabar' repeatedly in what could be described as an embarrassing gesture, angering the former Pakistan captain.

He was seen threatening fans by throwing a water bottle, but he soon backed down from the action. However, it is not sure if they said any abusive words to the star batter beyond what we saw in the viral video.

Babar Azam has been in the news for some wrong reasons, but his side registered their first win of the tournament on Friday against Multan Sultans. A collective batting effort saw Peshawar Zalmi score 179-8 after electing to bat first. Chasing a competitive total, Yasir Khan and Dawid Malan gave their team a strong foundation at the top.

But the rest of the batters failed to make much impact, resulting in their defeat by 5 runs. England pacer Luke Wood, who conceded only 13 runs in his four overs and took two wickets, was the star of the night.

Speaking after the match, Babar said: "Outstanding win tonight. A win like this is really needed. We wanted to score 170-180 and the batters did well to get there. Hasebullah started well and his partnership was crucial in the middle. Our bowlers put in their best efforts and executed well. Had we held onto our catches, it would have been a completely different ball game."
