Quinton de Kock played a brilliant innings, scoring 174 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen contributed an excellent 90. Aiden Markram also reached a half-century against Bangladesh.

In the 23rd match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat, but they faced early setbacks, losing Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen quickly. Shoriful removed Reeza, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Dussen. Both the batters looked regardless of the time they spent on the crease on a pitch which was batting-friendly.

Bangladesh started well with the ball, reducing South Africa to 36/2 within the first 8 overs. However, a crucial 131-run partnership between Quinton De Kock and Aiden Markram for the third wicket provided a significant boost to South Africa. After Markram's dismissal, Heinrich Klaasen, who was in fine form, joined De Kock at the crease. They mounted a relentless attack on the Bangladeshi bowlers, scoring boundaries consistently.

South Africa maintained their aggressive scoring throughout the match, amassing a formidable total of 382. Quinton de Kock played a brilliant innings, scoring 174 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen contributed an excellent 90. Aiden Markram also reached a half-century, but the highlight was the onslaught that followed his dismissal. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh struggled to contain the South African batsmen. Considering the ruthlessness that the Protea's batting showed throughout the innings meant that the South African side reached 300 plus total second consecutive time. In their previous fixture at the same ground, the South African batter managed to score 399 in the allocated 50 overs. This was an essential encounter for the team as they were up against the defending champions. In addition to it, they even won the match by a huge 227-run margin.
