IPL 2024: SRH Cricketer Abhishek Sharma Called for Questioning in Model Tania Singh's Suicide Case

In a shocking turn of events, IPL cricketer Abhishek Sharma, associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been summoned by the Surat Police. He has been called for questioning in connection with the tragic suicide of 28-year-old model Tania Singh. Tania, originally from Rajasthan, took her own life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her residence in the Vesu area of Surat on Monday.

The Surat Police have already taken statements from five individuals, including friends and family of the deceased, who had recent interactions with Tania. Investigators are exploring the possibility of romantic involvement as a potential cause of Tania's suicide. They are scrutinising her mobile call details for further insights.

Police Inspector BU Barad from Vesu Police Station stated that, according to the call details, there had been no recent communication between the deceased and Abhishek Sharma. However, due to their friendship, Abhishek has been called in for questioning to provide any relevant information.

Abhishek Sharma, a 23-year-old all-rounder, has been a consistent performer in the IPL, scoring 893 runs in 47 matches with a strike rate of 137.38. His impressive performance includes the highest score of 75 runs, four half-centuries, and nine wickets taken with his left-arm spin. Despite a successful 2022 season, where he amassed 426 runs, Abhishek faced a less effective 2023, scoring 226 runs in 11 matches.

Participating in the ongoing  Ranji Trophy 2023–24 season with the Punjab squad, Abhishek's team unfortunately failed to qualify for the quarterfinals.
