All-rounder Shivam Dube was honoured with the prestigious 'Player of the Series (POTS)' award following India's 3-0 T20I series win over Afghanistan. The home series marked a staggering return to the national team for Dube, who produced some spectacular performances.

His remarkable innings included a 40-ball 60 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, followed by an unbeaten 63 off just 32 balls that played a crucial role in India's 6-wicket victory. In fact, the southpaw is the leading run-scorer with 124 runs at an average of 124.00 and a strike rate of 158.97. His all-round skills were also on display as he picked up two wickets.

Meanwhile, Dube had a bad day at the office in the third match of the series at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. With the Indian top order collapsing, Dube was expected to bring the team back on track with his power-hitting. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli fell to Fareed Ahmed in successive deliveries, which brought Dube to the crease in the third over.

Afghanistan were already in the driving seat and when Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed the dangerous Dube in the very next over, India smelled serious danger. He was sent packing for just 1 run in six balls and put the hosts in dire straits. However, that did not prevent the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star from winning the Player of the Series.

With a total of 124 runs and 2 wickets, including Player of the Match (POTM) in the opening game, Dube won the POTS. Meanwhile, there was a bit of chaos during the post-match presentation of the dramatic final T20I. Commentator Murali Kartik mistakenly invited Dube to collect the POTM award instead of POTS.

The 30-year-old was confused as to how he won the POTM by scoring just 1 run. Karthik realised his mistake and asked Dube to receive the POTS series award.

After winning the award, Dube said: "As an all-rounder you always want to be the Player of the Series, and this is something new I achieved in my life and it feels really good. We scored a lot of runs on this ground and we thought we would win before the superover, but such is cricket and well done to both teams. There are many things I want to improve, especially in my bowling and I'm trying to get better with each passing game."

On the back of Rohit Sharma's sensational record-breaking hundred and Rinku Singh's brilliant half-century, India posted a massive total of 212-4 in 20 overs. However, half-centuries from Afghanistan's top 3 saw them level the score and push the game into the Super Over. In a dramatic turn of events, for the first time in men's T20I history, we witnessed a double Super Over in which India won by 10 runs.
