His family took to Instagram to inform the news about his passing in the late hours on Thursday and said that the footballer dreamt of only one quality throughout his life, love. Notably, the football world was left in nothing but shock as they hoped for a speedy recovery of the legend, given that he was battling cancer of late.

The late Argentina legend Diego Maradona, Pele, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are considered to be the faces of football. When the La Albiceleste legend passed away, Pele wrote that he wanted to play alongside him in the heavens someday. Fans recalled the same and said that the duo would have joined hands in the heavens to play the game that they loved the most.

The portfolio has it that Pele was also the Minister of Sports for the country from January 1995 to April 1998, considered to be one of the finest phases of his life. The late Brazilian footballer was a fighter right throughout his life, and one has to agree he fought all the way to reach the top of the reign in the sport.

FIFA’s tabulation reveals that the Brazilian great racked up 1281 goals in 1366 games and as far as his records in official tournaments are concerned, Pele scored 757 goals in 812 games. Over time, Pele reduced his public appearances and was spotted often in a wheelchair, much to the dreariness of the football fans.

One has to agree that Pele’s death has left a void in the field of football, although fans claimed that his legacy and records will live on forever, given that it is something that might not be broken by any other footballer in the upcoming times.
