The season opener ended up as a complete package for ardent football fans as it witnessed all sorts of things that can happen only on a football ground. Be it fantastic goals, yellow cards, brilliant passes, or last but not least, the red card after a violent fight at the end of the match when the match was about to end in Kerala’s favor.

Here's what happened in the inaugural encounter of the ISL 2022

Speaking of the match, then the KBFC dominated the match from the beginning till the last signing-off whistle from the referee. Uruguayan Midfielder Adrian Luna opened the account of goals for the hosts as he smashed a brilliant strike into the goal post assisted by defender Harmanjot Khabra. Just eight minutes later, KBFC replaced Apostolos with midfielder Ivan Kalyuzhnyi. Ivan took no time in showing his brilliance on the field as he smashed the second goal for the blaster just two minutes after his arrival on the field. Although, Alex Lima showed some instinct from the end of East Bengal as he scored the only goal for his team in the 88th minute of the match.

As the match proceeded in the 89th minute, it seemed like only one individual goal was not enough for Ivan Kalyuzhnyi. He went on to smash his second consecutive goal in the match and take the scorecard to 3-1 in the favour of Kerala Blasters.

Apart from the sporting action on the field, the inaugural match of the ninth season also witnessed a heated moment in the extra time. It all happened when Rahul Kannoly Praveen of Kerala Blasters ended up involved in a physical brawl or a fight with East Bengal’s Jerry Lalrinzuala. The match officials and other players had to intervene to stop this brawl at the immediate moment.
