Tottenham Hotspurs had a disappointing English Premier League (EPL) 2022/23 season as they finished in the eighth position with 60 points in 38 games. However, one of their strikers, Richarlison had a forgettable season. He joined the Spurs during the 2022 summer transfer window for £60m from Everton. In the last season, he scored just one goal in 27 Premier League appearances while managing only two goals in the UEFA Champions League.

But, now as the transfer window has opened already for the next season, rumours have come out that the Brazilian striker is linked with a move to Real Madrid. Notably, Madrid are looking for a striker after Kari Benzema’s departure. While speaking during a press conference while on international duty, Richarlison opened up about such rumours.

“I still have to deliver wearing Tottenham’s shirt.” - Richarlison

He said: "Real Madrid links? Of course, every player wants to wear the shirt of Real Madrid. It's the biggest club in the world. But I have a club, a contract, I have to prove why they bought me for a high price. It was a bad season for me, also due to injuries that I had at Tottenham. But it’s a dream, a dream of every player to wear Real’s shirt. But I still have to deliver wearing Tottenham’s shirt.” However, if Richarlison somehow joins the Los Blancos, then he will get the opportunity to work with Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti was managing Everton when Richarlison was there. Regarding that, he added: “Well, as everyone knows, Ancelotti coached me and Everton and we chat a lot. The other day, I called him and he was with Vinicius Junior and Militao. But there’s nothing going on, just friendship. We became very good friends at Everton where I could help him. This friendship will last forever.” Despite his struggle in a Spurs shirt, he has a good record for Brazil as Richarlison has 20 goals in 42 games so far. He also had an impressive 2022 FIFA World Cup for the Selecao.
