Birmingham is hosting the 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games. 71 commonwealth countries are participating in one of the biggest sports carnivals across the world. Top athletes of the world are there in contention to win medals for their countries.
But apart from the action of the game, an incident has left everyone in shock. It happened during the cycling event which involved England’s 24-year-old cyclist Matt Walls. The Olympic champion sustained a deadly accident near the barrier and crashed with the crowd in the Lee Valley VeloPark in London.
In this horrific collision, Walls’ cycle went over the barrier and hit the spectators who were there watching the event in the first row.
Matt Walls received stitches on his forehead, out of danger now
Matt Walls was participating in the scratch race, following the accident, he went through the treatment for almost 40 minutes. Later on, the support staff took him to the hospital for further treatment. The Manchester-based lad received stitches on his forehead. Although everyone heaved a sigh of relief as he managed somehow to escape any major life-changing injury.

After the treatment, the hospital discharged the English cyclist. He is now under medical supervision by the support staff of the English contingent.
The sources have also learned that a man who got injured during the crash had sustained a few cuts on his arm while a young girl also went through medical treatment.
It was not only the Walls and spectators who got injuries during this crash. Another participant from The Isle of Man, Matt Bostock also received medical attention as sustained injuries on his head and should in this very crash.
Notably, it was not a good day at all for the cyclists in CWG 2022, another crash took place in the keirin event where England’s Joe Turman broke his collar bone and had a concussion. He went through treatment at the Royal London Hospital. The medical supervisors have instructed him to rest and recover from the injury.
