'Fakr Hai Lekin Fake hai' - Twitter users troll Virender Sehwag as he fell prey to a fake news regarding CWG 2022

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag stays often active on social media. He is known for his fun banter and witty sense of humor. But recently social media has become a reason of embarrassment for the former opener. He fell prey to a piece of fake news or misinformation regarding a medal update for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Notably, Sehwag went on to congratulate Hima Das for winning gold at the current edition of the Commonwealth Games. He posted a picture of the Indian track athlete and mistakenly congratulated her on winning gold

But it was not true at all as Hima Das did not win any medal as of now in the CWG 2022 in Birmingham. Then, he deleted his tweet immediately but it was already too late for him to delete the tweet. Fans had already taken the screenshots of the tweet to troll Sehwag. They also advised him to stay well informed to avoid such embarrassment.

Fans trolled Virender Sehwag even after the latter corrected his mistake

After correcting the mistake, Sehwag posted another tweet in which he congratulated Indian weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar for winning the silver medal and opening medal tally for India.

"Well done #SanketSargar for winning India its first medal at the Commonwealth Games, brilliant effort. Proud of your Silver #CWG," read Sehwag’s corrected tweet.

But the fans were in a mood to not go easy with the 43-year-old former opener. They trolled Sehwag and also advised him to stay updated with the factful news to avoid misinformation in society.

Speaking about the performance of the Indian contingent at CWG 2022, then senior weight-lifter Mirabai Chanu won the first gold medal for India in the Birmingham Games. Other than her, Gururaja Poojary won the bronze in men’s weightlifting. Another young Indian weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar also took a silver medal home.

Notably, the Indian women’s cricket team will play against the arch-rivals Pakistan on July 31 (Sunday).
