Expressing his own opinion on the poll and his favorite format, the 38-year-old tweeted, “Decided to stop the poll 3 hours short of the 24h mark. Not enough time for a swing. Surprised by how well my favorite format performed. Still think if I had the chance to watch my heroes play in a final it’d be the Test format, the ultimate test.”

Cricket fans were left in awe of the legendary cricketer for his highly commendable words for the longest format of the game. They took to Twitter for pouring their hearts out on the ABD.

Here’s how fans reacted to the poll posted by Ab de Villiers:

“It is weird to see ODI’s at the bottom, considering the majority of the Cricketing world rate an ODI World Cup win as the ultimate achievement,” De Villiers added later.

The long and the short, if you’re the best Test team in the world then you’ve been the most consistent for the longest period of time, home and away, in the toughest format of them all. Therefore, my favorite format and number,” he concluded in the last tweet of the thread.

Speaking of the Test career of Ab de Villiers, then he played 114 Tests for the South African team. In these matches, he has scored 8766 runs with an amazing average of 50.66 having 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries to his name.

The Pretoria-born cricketer made his first Test appearance for South Africa 18 years back in the year 2004 against England. Whereas, he played for the last time in Test cricket for South Africa against Australia in Johannesburg Test back in 2018.
