Suryakumar Yadav has not had a good tour in West Indies so far. The 32-year-old has made 19 off 25 balls in the first ODI with three fours and one six, batting at number 3. In the second ODI, he batted at number 6 and made 24 off 25 balls with three fours. Now reports have emerged that the Indian team management are looking to lock in Suryakumar Yadav at the Number 6 position in ODIs.
The man from Mumbai has got an extended run in ODI cricket. He has played 25 ODIs and scored 476 runs at an average of 23.80 and a strike rate of 100.42. He has hit two fifties in ODIs and also registered three consecutive ducks in the recent ODI home series against Australia. The team management feels that Suryakumar can use his T20 style of play and score some quick runs for India.
Suryakumar Yadav is still learning about ODI cricket -Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid has thrown his weight around Suryakumar saying that the Indian Team will back despite a string of low scores. The India coach went further and said that the right-hander is yet to master the art of ODI cricket and is still in a learning phase. When it comes to T20Is, it is a different kettle of fish as Suryakumar has racked up three hundreds for India.

A pattern which has unfolded for Suryakumar in ODIs is that he has not been able to play himself. At the start of his innings, he tries too many big shots which has eventually led to his downfall. The Indian batter has not been able to crack the ODI batting template despite getting a long rope.

There are few things beyond stats.
Imagine India needed 70 in last 7 overs
Who do you want at no 6?
Obviously Sky,he needs the backing
That means one of Kisan/Rahul/Samson will get the chance as wk.
Kisan being LH,I personally want Kisan-Gill open,Rohit at no 4
Indian management trying every possible way to keep SKY in the ODI set up. Even after enormous failures. But when Sanju fails in couple of games, the same management throw him out.

Double standards 🤡
This move could add more firepower to the middle-order and give him the opportunity to showcase his talents in longer formats as well. It will be interesting to see how the Indian management strategizes to make the most of his skills in ODI cricket. 🏏🇮🇳

The way team management wants to fix him in the team, shows how much they are obsessed with him. Rutu got dropped after 1 ODI, Shreyas got dropped from WC squad twice, Shikhar Dhawan dropped from ODI's after one series failure and Bhuvi also got dropped.

Indian mgmt will continue “trying” and evaluating different batsmen at diff positions till the eve of World Cup.

And on day 1 of WC, we will select batting order with a secure lottery system.
Now they realised it🤦 totally confused management. I don't mind backing Surya but atleast back with clarity and at a assigned spot so that he also has a clarity of role

Then he has to show some maturity and control himself those situations define how good a player he is

What if his turn came early so he will play few overs and out
