Hardik Pandya has had a Test career for India that has been short and impactful but it has not been fulfilling to the best of Hardik's ability. The Indian all-rounder has played 11 Tests for the country and has scored 532 runs and picked up 17 wickets. He scored a century against Sri Lanka and picked up a five-wicket haul against England. Pandya has said that he does not want to rush back into Test Cricket and will do so at a later date.

Talking about Hardik Pandya, Kapil Dev said that Pandya has one of the fittest bodies in Indian cricket. The former cricketer then went on to say that if Pandya plays more Tests it will be very beneficial to India. But Kapil feels that Pandya playing Test Cricket will not happen in the long term. “Doesn’t look like he will,” Kapil said to Times of India in an interview.

The most important thing for India in 2023 World Cup is to reach semi-finals: Kapil Dev

“I saw his photograph on the billboard today. I don’t know whether they did any touch-ups or not, but in that, he looked like having one of the finest bodies we have in the country. Yes, he should play more cricket because he has so much ability. If he is fit, he should play Test cricket also,” Kapil said. Pandya has shown what he can do at the international level but his career has not fully blossomed due to injuries.

Pandya said that he wanted to get back to the Indian Test team in the long term. Pandya last played in the 5 Test match series against England in 2018. Recently under Pandya's leadership, the Indian T20I side lost the 5-match T20I series to West Indies. The next assignment for the Men in Blue is three T20Is against Ireland.

They need to come in the top four (semifinals) first. After that, anything is possible. You need a stroke of luck from the semifinal stage onwards and need things to go your way. But the most important thing is to reach the top four.” Kapil said on India's 2023 ODI World Cup chances.
