‘Yeh khelega Test Championship Final’ - Fans slam Rohit Sharma for scoring only 2 runs against GT in IPL 2023

Rohit Sharma was in action on 25 April 2023 when Mumbai Indians (MI) took on the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing IPL. MI came to this clash after a loss against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last game. While GT were coming off after a win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

MI won three out of their first six games. Rohit Sharma managed to pull things off as the skipper after a poor start. But, as a batter, he has been struggling. In six matches, he scored 179 runs. So, fans were hoping to see Rohit Sharma score a big score against Hardik Pandya and his men.

Rohit Sharma scored only two runs off eight balls against GT

Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, GT scored 207 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Shubman Gill scored 56 runs off 34 balls. Then, David Miller scored 46 runs off 22 balls and Abhinav Manohar scored 42 runs off 21 balls. Rahul Tewatia also played a fantastic cameo as he scored 20 runs off five balls, including three sixes. For MI, Piyush Chawla grabbed two wickets while the other four bowlers took one wicket each. Rohit looked clueless in the death overs as his bowlers got smacked all around the ground by GT batters.

For this mammoth chase, MI skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan came out to bat. But, GT bowlers like Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami were on full song. In two overs, MI scored just four runs and on the last delivery of the second over, Rohit got out for just two runs off eight balls. MI skipper went for a jab but all he managed was a leading edge. In the end, Hardik completed an easy catch off his own bowling and gave an early setback to MI in the chase. Seeing that, fans slammed Rohit on social media brutally.
