The Asia Cup 2023 is all set to take place in Pakistan. But, as per recent reports, the Indian Cricket Board are still refusing to visit Pakistan due to political concerns. They have already proposed to host the event in a neutral venue. But, as of now, the Men in Green eagerly want to host the tournament.

Recent reports have suggested that the Asia Cup might get cancelled and India might organise a five-nation tournament at home instead of that. If Pakistan refuse to play in Asia Cup, they can be replaced by UAE. Now, reports have come out that the Cricket Boards of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have backed the Indian Cricket Board’s decision of moving the 2023 Asia Cup out of Pakistan.

“In that case, cricket will be the ultimate sufferer” - Najam Sethi

However, Pakistan have already proposed a hybrid model to India where the Men in Blue can play their matches of the Asia Cup in a neutral country while other matches will take place in Pakistan as per schedule. But, they are still not fond of it. Meanwhile, the current PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi called for a rational approach to solve the whole matter. Recently, on the occasion of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) meeting, Sethi said to the reporters that Pakistan’s chances are quite low to visit India for the 2023 World Cup if things stand just like now.

“In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup, chances are there that the Pakistan government would not allow the Men in Green to cross the borders for their World Cup participation. In that case, cricket will be the ultimate sufferer. There should be a middle way to solve problems that surely threaten the smooth hosting of grand events. In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government will not allow us to travel to India to figure in the World Cup matches,” the PCB Chairman said.
