Umesh Yadav was bowling that over and after the first delivery, Kohli was seen teasing the young batter while standing at the slips. Speaking of the match, Australia batted first and scored 469 runs in their first innings. In reply, India got bundled out for 296 runs in their first innings and thus, the Aussies got a lead of 173 runs. Both Kohli and Gill came to this clash after an excellent IPL season for their respective franchises. But, they failed to continue that form as Gill got out on 13 runs and the former skipper got out on 14 runs.

However, every fan knows the bond these batters share between them. Ahead of this final, Kohli was heaping praises on the young batter and also expressed his wish to help him grow in future. He said: “What I know, he has told me that he has looked up to my career when I was coming up the ranks, he speaks to me a lot about the game and I am keen to help him grow. All these tags of King and Prince are great for the public but the job of any senior cricketer is to help any youngster groom youngsters and give them insight that you have experienced throughout your career, so that they can manage their ups and downs. He is a lovely kid, he is playing amazingly well and I wish he continues that in this (ongoing Test match) as well.”
