Suresh Raina has been a great player for team India over the years. He was a part of the Men in Blue when they won the 50-over World Cup in 2011. Apart from him, he had enjoyed a great career for the Chennai franchise in the history of the Indian T20 League. Hence, fans are aware of the beautiful bong that Raina shares with MS Dhoni.

He enjoyed his entire Chennai career under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The former India skipper had an influence on the overall career of the former southpaw batter. Now, in a recent interview with Sports Tak, Suresh Raina came up with a huge statement. He said that he was playing for Dhoni first and then the Indian team.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina announced his retirement from cricket, right after MS Dhoni's retirement on August 15, 2020. Now, he opened up about the reason behind it during this interview. Suresh Raina said: “We played so many matches together. I was fortunate to play with him for India, and with Chennai. We got a lot of love. I've come from Ghaziabad, Dhoni from Ranchi. I played for MS Dhoni, then I played for the country. That's the connection. We've played so many finals, we won the World Cup. He's a great leader and a great human being.”

Chennai fans call him Chinna Thala with love. Raina last played in the Indian T20 League in 2021. In that season, he managed to score just 160 runs from 12 matches. Speaking about his international career, Suresh Raina played 322 matches for the Men in Blue across all three formats. In 291 innings, he scored 7988 runs, at an average of 32.87. Raina scored seven centuries and 48 fifties. However, fans found a such statement from the southpaw batter very exaggerated and slammed him over social media platforms.
