On 18 May 2023, the stage was set in Hyderabad as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL. Before this clash, RCB were in fifth position with 12 points in 12 games. While SRH were in the last position with eight points in 12 games. RCB were looking to win this game to take one more step closer to the playoffs.

While SRH were looking to win this last home game for the fans. Speaking of the match, RCB won the toss and opted to field first. For SRH, Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi came out to open. But, they lost both of the openers for 28 runs in 4.3 overs. Then, Aiden Markram got out after scoring 18 runs off 20 balls.

Virat Kohli hit his sixth IPL ton against SRH

For the third wicket, Markram and Klaasen put up a partnership of 76 runs. Then, Heinrich Klaasen took all the RCB bowlers apart as he smashed his maiden IPL ton. Klaasen smashed 104 runs off 51 balls, including eight fours and six sixes. Finally, SRH scored 186 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. For SRH, Michael Bracewell took two wickets while Mohammed Siraj, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Harshal Patel took one wicket each.

In reply, both Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave a blistering start to the chase. After the first six powerplay overs, RCB scored 64 runs for no wickets. They put up a solid partnership of 172 runs for the first wicket 17.5 overs. Kohli smashed his sixth IPL ton off just 62 balls. He scored 100 runs off 63 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes. Then, the second wicket fell as du Plessis scored 71 runs off 47 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Finally, Maxwell and Bracewell held their nerves as RCB chased down the target in 19.2 overs and won the game by eight wickets. Thus, RCB now have 14 points in 13 games with one more match to go against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT) in Bengaluru.
