Ahead of the start of the Indian T20 League 2022, Rajasthan bought the services of Devdutt Padikkal for a whopping amount of INR 7.75 crores at the Mega Auction. With Yashasvi Jaiswal also in the same team, Padikkal haven’t got the opportunity to open the innings consistently for the side.

He has had a decent outing so far for Rajasthan with the bat. In 12 matches, Padikkal has managed to score 295 runs at an average and a strike rate of 24.58 and 124.47 respectively. Padikkal has received a fair amount of criticism for not batting aggressively. However, he went all guns blazing in the last match against Delhi.

Coming at number four, Padikkal played a top-notch inning of 48 runs in just 38 balls at a strike rate of 160. His knock helped the team reach a competitive score of 160 runs on the board. Though, Rajasthan lost the game, in the end, by 8 wickets.

Recently, during a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, Padikkal was asked by a fan in the #politeenquiries: ‘“Who is more fun to bat with? Virat Or Jos?”

The RR batter didn’t seem too comfortable in answering the question but eventually picked his former skipper Virat Kohli.

Previously, he opened up on his experience of batting alongside Virat Kohli in the Indian T20 League. For the unversed, Padikkal played for Bangalore in his first two seasons in 2019 and 2020.

Talking during the Red Bull’s podcast Greatness starts here Devdutt Padikkal recalled, “The one thing that I remember pretty clearly was when Virat was being followed by a camera and he told the cameraman ‘Go to him (Devdutt). He is the main man today, and you know that still gives me goosebumps whenever I think about it.”

Meanwhile, Rajasthan are sitting at number three on the points table with 7 wins in 12 matches. Sanju Samson and Co. lost their last game against Delhi by 8 wickets and are slated to play their next game against Lucknow on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
