Manchester Originals needed a win against Trent Rockets in the eliminator of the Hundred 2022 to make it to the finals. Amid huge expectations and excitement, the team captains made their way into the ground for the toss. It was Eoin Morgan who called it right at the toss and thus, he decided to bat first. The momentum was with the Spirit as they opened with Adam Rossington and Zak Crawley until the former stunned everyone with a duck.
Little did the fans expect the Spirit to get off to such a poor start as Rossington’s wicket made way for Ben McDermott. The Spirit fans had some relief as the duo in the middle put on a show and lifted the team. It wasn’t enough for the team as Crawley failed to crawl beyond 36 and paved the way for a collapse. Rose Bowl stadium is a tricky one and it did trouble the batters a bit. The fans were not happy with Morgan’s decision to bat first as it only backfired.
McDermott, the lucky charm departed for 59 and Dan Lawrance followed him back quickly. The skipper Eoin Morgan did not last more than a ball as he bagged a golden duck. The Spirit batters ended up amassing a total of 140 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
Manchester Originals vs Trent Rockets in the finals
Manchester Originals looked on course to clinch a win as the duo Philip Salt and skipper Laurie Evans got off to a superb start. The skipper played
a blitzkrieg inning as he alongside Philip Salt and it was the latter who made his way back to the squad first. But that did not stop the skipper and he went on with his aggressive inning.
The black team got rid of the blue from the Hundred 2022 as the Originals defeated the Spirit by five wickets to make it to the finals. Let’s take a look at some of the interesting tweets that popped up right after the eliminator match:

Another rather one sided game. Evans played well, but the rest of the game was …. about average. Just think next year, this will the only format being played through August 🤷🏻♂️ #thehundred

So the Manchester Originals steam on through to the final. They’ve won 6 from 6 now, and have all the momentum heading into tomorrow.
From an abysmal start, they’ve really come good. Next in Paul Walter’s sights, the Trent Rockets#TheHundred

Loved how London Spirit tried to fight back but Laurie Evans and Phil Salt had scored 20 runs too many in their opening stand for Manchester Originals #TheHundred
