In match 21 of The Hundred 2022, Manchester Originals locked horns with Northern Superchargers at Headingley. The match turned out to be a high-scoring one and it was Superchargers' skipper Faf du Plessis who called it right at the toss. The South African placed a bet on his bowlers and elected to field first.

The Originals openers Philip Salt and Laurie Evans had other ideas as they charged from both ends. The first five balls cost eleven runs for the Superchargers as Salt looked in fine nick. Laurie Evans joined the party at the other end as he smashed three consecutive fours and a six of Dwayne Bravo's over.

Having left the Superchargers' bowlers clueless already, Salt took it further as he smashed three consecutive sixes off Adil Rashid. The team reached the seventy-figure mark in just thirty balls. Evans, on the other hand, couldn't restrict himself much as he carried on within aggressive innings. Sixes and fours came too easily until the West Indian allrounder Dwyane Bravo produced the initial breakthrough with Evans' wicket.

Salt followed Evans in a span of three balls as Tristian Stubbs and Andre Russell marked the crease. While the bowlers looked to restrict further impact, Stubbs ensured the sixes kept coming. Craig Miles couldn't hold on to his nerves as Stubbs and Russell smashed his over for 23 runs. The Originals put on a mammoth total of 208 runs for the loss of five wickets after hundred balls.

Adam Lyth and Skipper Faf du Plessis marked the guard and the latter did not wait for a ball to find boundaries as he smacked the first ball for a four.

Josh Little produced the first hope for the Originals as he picked the skipper's scalp. David Willey and Adam Lyth were in the mood to hunt down the total. Paul Walter tackled Lyth's flow and sent him to the dressing room for forty-six runs. And the bowler took Harry Brook's scalp in the very next ball of his over.

David Willey perished for seventeen runs while Adam Hose carried on with the hunt to chase the target. The latter fell short of partners as he lost John Simpson at the other end and the hopes faded. Walter got rid of the dangerous Hose after the latter's well-made fifty. The Superchargers tried their best but were cut short of the target by 23-runs.
