Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya played a brilliant role in the team’s victory against the arch-rivals Pakistan in the first super-12 match of the group. He scored 40 runs with the bat while chasing the target and stitched 113-run partnership for the fifth wicket with former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli.

Earlier, Hardik had scalped three wickets with the ball which helped India to restrict the men in green from scoring a big total. Although, apart from the action on the field, Hardik Pandya is known for his bold statement off the field. Recently, he has come up with a similar statement while expressing his opinion about running a batter out at the non-striker’s end.

Pandya went on to support it completely that it was a mistake of the batter who left the crease early. According to the 28-year-old, it is completely for the bowler who does it as the rules state the same.

If I am out of my crease, and someone runs me out, it is fine. It is my mistake - Hardik Pandya

"We need to stop making a fuss about this running out the non-striker. It is a rule, as simple as that. To hell with the spirit of the game, if it is there, it is there. Personally, I have no problem with it. If I am out of my crease, and someone runs me out, it is fine. It is my mistake," said Hardik on a program of cricket's governing body.

Later on, Hardik also disagreed on the point of match-ups and made an extremely different opinion regarding it.

"Matchups don't work for me, see where I bat and the situation I get into, I do not get the option of matchups. You see matchups are more for the people who are batting in the Top 3 or 4. For me, it is just the situation. There have been times when I would like to take on a bowler, but if the situation does not demand it, I do not take that risk as it is going to harm my team," he added later.
