While last year the Indian women players could not be part of the sixth edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) due to the Women’s T20 Challenge commitment, this year the scenario is vastly different. Led by teenage sensation Shafali Verma, fellow Indian players like Radha Yadav, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Jemimah Rodrigues are in line to play for one of eight teams in the seventh edition of WBBL. If speculations are to be believed, Radha Yadav and Shafali Verma will most likely play for Sydney Sixers.

The news comes as a shot in the arm for the majority of the Indian players. With a free calendar available for the players and the BCCI giving a green signal, the players will get some exposure by playing in one of the best leagues in world cricket for women cricketers.

"(Shafali Verma) is on everyone's list, no doubt," Sydney Sixers list manager and former Australia captain Lisa Sthalekar told to The New Indian Express.

The former Australian player further opined that all the eight clubs will be vying for at least one Indian player due to their match-winning abilities.

"She loves Australian conditions, we saw that in the T20 World Cup. Each club will have some vacancies and (there may be) an Indian player there that could fit that role. I'm sure that they're picking up the phone and making those calls.
