The United Arab Emirates locked horns with the Netherlands in the second match of day 1 of the 20-20 World Cup. Both teams played this match in the qualifying stage at GMHBA stadium in South Geelong of Victoria. UAE skipper Chundangapoyil Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first against the Netherlands. Batting first, UAE could score only 111 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Although, apart from the action and result of the match, a video of young 16-year-old UAE player Aayan Afzal Khan has gone viral over social media. Actually, he happened to fall on the boundary while he was going his way back to the pavilion after he fell prey to the Dutch pacer, Fred Klassen, on the fifth ball of the last over of UAE’s inning.

The video of this incident took no time in spreading over social media within minutes of being shared from the official account of England's famous Barmy Army.

Furthermore, talking about the match, Opener Muhammad Waseem was the only batter in the UAE lineup to cross the 20-run mark. He played a struggle knock of 41 runs off 47 balls with a boundary and two sixes to his name. Other than Waseem, Kashif Daud and wicketkeeper-batter Vriitya Aravind were the only two batters who touched the double-digit score individually. They both scored 15 and 18 runs respectively.

UAE could score only 111 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Bas de Leede ended up as the highest wicket-taker for the Netherlands in the matches. He scalped three wickets by conceding 19 runs in four overs.

While chasing the target, it also went very tough for the Dutch to cross the line comfortably as UAE took them till the penultimate ball of the match to come up with a result. Eventually, the Netherlands chased down the target in 19.5 overs for the loss of seven wickets to win the match by three wickets.

Bas de Leede won the ‘player of the match award for his stunning bowling performance in the favour of the Netherlands.
